Q: What does MARCH mean?
A: MARCH is an acronym for MARkov CHain.
Q: Are you planning to release MARCH on other computing platforms than the Microsoft's
Windows one?
A: It will depend on the demand. If a sufficient number of customers are asking for, we could develop other versions of
the software.
Q: Is it possible to try MARCH before buying it?
A: Yes. You are entitled to try MARCH for 30 days before buying it. Just go to the download page and follow the instructions.
Q: When I buy a license for MARCH, why do I have to wait for 3 workdays before
receiving my personal registration name, license number, and registration code?
A: That is because each registration demand is manually handled and checked. In the mean time, you are obviously
entitled the right to continue to use your unregistered copy of MARCH.
Q: What kind of data files can be used in MARCH?
A: MARCH can open both text files and Microsoft's Excel .xls files. Since almost all softwares are able to
write one of these two formats, MARCH can use data files created with virtually any other software.
Q: Do I need to install other softwares on my computer to fully exploit MARCH?
A: The only other software really needed to fully exploit MARCH is a text editor to open the results file, but
Microsoft's Notepad, which is installed on all PCs, is perfect for that. Moreover, you need a .pdf reader to open the user's
guide. If you don't have one yet, you can download one for free from the Adobe site.
Finally, if you want to create theoretical model, you need to have a spredsheet software able to write Microsoft's Excel .xls
files.
Q: I want to use MARCH for teaching. Is it possible for my students to install MARCH on
their personal computers without buying a license?
A: If you or the institution where the lecture is given possess either a group or a site license, your
students are entitled the right to run a demo version of MARCH on their peronal computer for the length of the lecture. After that,
they have to either remove MARCH from their computer or buy a license. The demo
version is fully functional, except for the size of data files which can be used.
Q: I downloaded the demo version of MARCH, but I don't find where the full version is.
A: To obtain a full version of MARCH, you have to buy a license.
You will then receive the personal registration information needed to transform your demo version of MARCH into a full version.
Q: I cannot run MARCH 2.11 on my computer. I always get an error message like "The
procedure entry point mxGetRegisterInternalFcnsFcn could not be located in the dynamic link library libmx.dll."
A: This is a known problem of versions 2.XX, a conflict between MARCH and Matlab 7.x. It has been solved in version 3.00. If
you are still using an older version of MARCH, you can use the following method: The problem lies in the Path environment variable of your
system. Go to your system path variable (start/settings/control panel/system/advanced/environment variables). You probably have one element
corresponding to Matlab and one corresponding to March. Modify the line to make sure that the element corresponding to March is located
BEFORE the one corresponding to Matlab.
Q: MARCH 3.00 opens very slowly on my computer. Is it normal?.
A: Yes, this is normal. When you run MARCH, several files are extracted and created. This process takes some time, especially
on older computers.
Q: I bought an old version of MARCH. How much does it cost to upgrade to the new one?
A: Nothing! All MARCH licenses are perpetual and include new versions. All you have to do is remove the old version from your
computer, install the new one, and finally reenter your personal registration information.
